Hello dear friends! Hope you all are well and doing good. Here we’re trying to recover after two hectic weeks with convention. First weekend of September we went to the Luganda Convention and then the weekend after we had the English convention, its nice to understand something as well. We where assigned to both of the conventions, so I had talks on both. The Luganda one was though I can tell you, but with a lot of Holy Spirit and help from a local brother it went very well, he helped me both with the translation and the pronunciation. The brothers here had really done a good job with the invitations for the convention. The peak at the Luganda convention was 857 and that was 40% higher than last year, and they don’t even have 400 publishers. English had a peak of 1257 and that was 25% more than last year, English has 500 something publishers. We were very happy to see that 9 of our studies came to the convention, 4 of them came for all three days. One of them Charles, runs a little shop, and normally they it’s hard to get shop owner to the meetings, because they are afraid of loosing business if they close. So I asked Charles if he had someone to stay at his shop while he was at the Convention. Then he just said: “I’ll just close, God comes first”. We showed all of our studies how to take notes, and it was so nice to see them eagerly writing down all the scriptures and some small comments. Charles told us that he went over his notes with his wife every day so she also could benefit. She’s a very devoted Catholic so she didn’t want to come for the convention. But he made sure that she also would get this important information. And after the convention he told me that he had been preaching to his customers, but as he said:”they don’t understand that the end is near.” And yesterday he said with a big smile that he had nailed a “savedy” (a common expression for all the members of the different Pentecostal churches). So I asked him what he had said. He answered: “I just asked him some simple questions from what we learned at the convention and he couldn’t answer.” And the thing is that we just started to study the week before the Convention. But we study 3 times a week and his making good progress, we’re already in chapter 4 in the Bible teach book, hopefully he’ll come to his first meeting on Sunday. The good thing for me is that we do the study in Luganda, infact he’s the only study I have in Luganda, all the other ones prefer English. So he helps me a lot with my terrible Luganda. What is good is that I still can explain things to him in English so that he also learns something. It is nice to see how attentive the studies are, and how they try to do just as we do, so one lunch when we sat down with two of the men we brought, I take Sandri’s hand as I always do to make a prayer for the food, and the to men sees it and they also hold hands. It was so nice. Here we are with 6 of our studies And here inside We really se how Jehovah is leading the work, and we’re so happy that he can use us, and give us this great privilege. It’s really undeserved kindness. In July we had a new peak in publishers in Uganda, over 4100, and we have 10 000 bible studies so there is absolutely reason to believe that the growth won’t stop. We haven’t had so many new peaks this year because quite a number of brothers have gone back to their home countries from the refuge camps. It seems like the situation in north of Uganda and south of Sudan is getting more stable. So hopefully this can give a further growth. Now we are looking forward to the dedication of our new branch in January. We still don’t have the official date, but it seems like January. It will probably be one of the new members of the governing body who will be visiting us, and the rumors say its brother Morris. Anyhow we do look forward to it. And we are hoping that some brothers from the Norwegian branch will come and visit us. So much from Uganda this time. Thanks all of you who are taking the time to write us some notes we really enjoy it. We wish you all the best and Jehovah’s blessings. Carl Christian & Sandri P.S. Had a nice little experience today. On our way to the meeting I saw a man with Bible hurrying so I slow down in case it’s one of our brothers, but no. Anyway the man came running asking for a lift anyhow, so we gave him a ride. Turned out he was going to the savedy church across from our Kingdom Hal. So I told him if you want to hear the truth from the Bible you are welcome to our meetings, and by the way we also offer people free Bible classes, we finish our meetings in two hours so you are welcome to come and I’ll show you how the classes are conducted. Well he went of to his church, and I didn’t think more about it. When we’re leaving for home after the meeting, he comes back, asking for his Bible class. So we did some paragraphs in the first chapter, and I showed him how to prepare. We agreed to meet again on next Saturday. Interesting to see how it works out because these Savedies are normally not easy to preach to. They are normally very proud, and at once get a lot of pressure from their church. But we’ll give it a try. D.S.
