Dear friends! Here’s a little update from us Ugandans. Just before we went on Vacations we had a change in assignments from Mbale to Jinja, which is on the lakeside of Lake Victoria, and were the Source of the river Nile is. It has been a good change in many ways. Jinja is a more touristic place so we’re not so visible as in Mbale. In Mbale everybody would stop and stare and shout Muzungu (white man). This happens very rarely here. It’s also quieter, not so noisy, and crowded. And we truly have enjoyed the ministry. Since we don’t have that many studies yet we’ve enjoyed working a lot together in the field as a couple. Every morning we get good returns so I think by next month we’ll have plenty of studies. We reached well after 3 nice months with my parents and the rest of the family. Nice big surprise on our flight from London to Entebbe, we got upgraded to first class. What a treat. Slept like a baby in the “bed” and what a service. For the first time I felt like the 9 hours could have been even more just wanted to sit there for a while longer and be entertained and served. One nice experience: a couple had been nice and friendly and receiving the magazines for a while, but not really reading them. They got involved in a money scheme and lost almost all their money. One day the husband picks up one of the magazines and start to read and he realizes that the magazine in warning about getting rich quick money schemes. He shows the magazine to his wife and tells her that: If we had seriously read this magazines from the beginning we would not have lost our money, we need to learn as much as possible from these people”. Next time the publishers came along they asked for a bible study, and we now have the privilege of studying with them. Last week we met a young man who said that he didn’t believe in organized religion. He had tried so many different ones but he only got confused, so I let him talk for a while, and then I asked if he believed that the Bible contained the truth from God. He confirmed that, so I asked him if I could just show him one point to see how clear and easy the Bible is to understand despite all the confusion brought by the different religions. He agreed to that. So we went to our Father prayer. 1’st point Gods name. Ex.3:13-15. So Gods name is Jehovah. After some discussion he agreed that Jehovah is his name and that God, The Almighty, The Creator etc. just are titles. So then I asked: do you believe that Jehovah listens to this prayer when the ones praying it don’t even know the name they’re praying for the glorification of. He replied: of course not. Then we mentioned the 2’nd point: what is Gods Kingdom? The man was totally blank. Sandri mentioned: do we pray for Gods kingdom to come or do we pray for God to take us up to his kingdom. No it we pray for Gods Kingdom to come, so it must be here on earth then, he answers. This I like, he says, you just explain the bible without twisting it. Then he tell us that he was member of an evangelic church for 4 years and the deeper he got in to it the more scared he became. He saw how they used witch craft to perform miracles and other disgusting things. He had read in the Bible that God one day would judge such kind of people and he said: when God comes to judge I don’t want to be found to be part of these horrible things, so I haven’t been to any church for more than 4 years now. I am a very busy man, he said but please I would like to talk to you again so you can explain me more about Gods Kingdom, so we gave him our phone number, and look forward to continue our fin discussion. Every Friday we go with another elder who is also a pioneer 25 km out of town to a village where there are 2 special pioneers + 4 publishers, they conduct all the meetings and they have more than 30 coming on Sundays. He took us to one place which he called his little school. We soon understood why. There were 8 persons there ready waiting for their study. So the brother was so happy we could come and help. So the fields are definitely white for the harvest, so we can only beg Jehovah to send out more workers. We hope you all are fine and doing good in the same work, the most important one, who knows how many more months of preaching we have left. We’re happy that we’re all together although we’re far apart. Hugs and greetings from Carl Christian & Sandri
